ATSM, HLS Anything Goes with Dies, Less Is More, Seize The Birthday, Time Out

Hi everyone, the theme at Less Is More this week is "Take Flight" and here's what I made.

I die-cut the butterfly out of Yupo card and painted it with glass and prism effect paints, and glitter medium and heat embossed the sentiment in gold. The shine and sparkle of these paints is a little hard to see in a photo. It was interesting to watch how they run and blend together!

I wanted to do another card too for this challenge but I've run out of time again, grrrrr!

ATSM, Less Is More, Seize the Birthday, Watercooler Wednesday

I was inspired to make a few things using the colour inspiration at Less Is More which is Royal Blue and Lime Green (blue and green is one of my favourite colour combos along with pink and orange).

Here's how I made the alcohol inks panel:

1. Add a few drops of blending solution and four drops of blue ink to the top half of the Yupo paper and tilt the paper to move the ink around until you're happy with it and then let that dry.

2. Pour a line of the green ink across the middle and tilt the paper so it blends with the blue, add another couple of drops of the blue if needed and let the colours blend together.

3. Put a few drops of green ink across the bottom of the paper and again tilt it to distribute, add some little details and shading with a small brush.

I wanted to join in the Summer Fun over at AAA Cards and also took inspiration from the CAS Colours and Sketches colours. Also seemed like a good excuse to use the new SSS Summer sentiments.

The background is a little smooshing with acetate and I've sponged ink onto the die-cut flipflops.

CAS Mix Up, City Crafters, Seize The Birthday, Watercooler Wednesday

My alcohol inks "landscape" looks quite intricate but was fairly quick and simple to make. Here's how:

1. Put some blending solution onto your Yupo card, add a couple of drops of yellow and red ink, tilt the card to spread it all over the card. Leave to dry completely.

2. Put a line of blue ink across the card and quickly add one or two drops of yellow and green. 

3. Use the flat edge of a drinking straw to smoosh the inks across the card and blend the colours and the magic happens!

4. Add more blue and green and spread with the straw until happy with the results.

5. The "sun" was made using a cotton bud and drop of blending solution to wipe off the ink.

And there we have it, smooshing with a straw.

Hi everyone and happy Saturday!

Been playing with alcohol inks again. This time I used the smooshing technique. I drizzled three shades of pink and red ink onto a piece of kitchen foil and placed a piece of Yupo card onto it. The flowers were heat embossed with gold sparkle embossing powder and fussy cut out.

AAA Cards, CAS Mix Up

alcohol inks, stamping, heat embossing, die-cutting

Happy Friday, everyone! I wanted to make a happy colourful card so used my alcohol inks to create a rainbow panel. 

Using a piece of Yupo card, I drizzled a band of the first colour across the top of the card, tilting the card from side to side to move the ink around, waited until that was dry and then repeated with all the other colours. The bubble effect was created by tapping lightly with a cotton bud and some blending solution.
