Merry Monday

Hello, everyone. I hope you're having a good weekend!

I started making this card before Christmas for a Merry Monday reindeer challenge but it didn't get finished so I decided to finish it and enter it in the current Merry Monday challenge.

The background is stencilled and I've added the little stamped reindeer, sleigh and snowballs, coloured with alcohol pens, and touches of glitter. I always struggle with placing the sentiment, it was going to go bottom right but has ended up top centre.

We've had a bit of a cold snap in the UK recently with the temperature not really going above 40 degrees F, but today (yesterday now) it's been a bit warmer so I pottered about in my garden, not much to do at this time of year. I'm a keen gardener and looking forward to the Spring!

Some photos looking back at the hotter weather last Summer in my garden. I love growing flowers and the tomatoes weren't bad either!

The Card Concept, CAS Colours and Sketches, HLS Anything Goes With Dies, Uniko

Hi everyone, just a quick post to share a card I've made, inspired by the colours at The Card Concept (style: clean and layered) and the CAS Colours and Sketches sketch.

Also sharing at Happy Little Stampers - Anything Goes With Dies and
Uniko - Anything Goes w/optional twist of Love

I've used alcohol inks (smooshing technique) on the curved panel and the die cut flowers are sponged with distress inks. Hope you have a lovely weekend. Thank you for stopping by and for your lovely comments.

CAS Colours and Sketches, CAS Mix Up, CASology, Inkspirational, Uniko

Hi everyone and happy Saturday.

Sorry, yet another alcohol inks card (hey, I'm having fun!).  I made a few pieces with the inks and acetate and wasn't that happy with them. There was some silver kitchen foil on the table so I decided to back my inky panel with a piece of scrunched up foil which I attached to the acetate with double-sided adhesive sheet, cut out my butterfly and voila, it was redeemed!

So I guess the moral of the story is not to throw away your alcohol ink pieces which you think aren't totally fabulous, maybe they can have a second life.

I used some embossing paste through a stencil for a bit of texture in the background, added a few sequins and stamped sentiment.

Sharing my card at the following:-

Alcohol inks on acetate

Another attempt at using alcohol inks, this time on acetate.  The ink more or less does it's own thing, which may be a blessing as Mrs Mojo is AWOL at the moment!

Here's how I made the inked panel:

1. Drip ink onto the acetate (I used purple, aqua and red).
2. Apply blending solution to a felt paid on an applicator and dab onto the inks lightly.
3. Add more inks if required and dab again. Repeat until desired effect is achieved.

I've added a die-cut frame and flowers and stamped sentiment. That's it!

Alcohol inks foliage

I'm sorry I've been MIA on a longer-than-anticipated bloggie break. Partly due to finding it hard to get back into the "swing" and a long wait to receive the alcohol inks I sent off for between Christmas and New Year which I now have. 😄

Anyhoo, onto to my card. I cut my foliage (this has to be one of my favourite dies) from an inky panel and here's how I made it.

1. Drip some alcohol inks onto yupo paper (I used different greens and some gold) and move them around by tilting the paper and/or blowing through a drinking straw.

2. Drizzle on some more inks and/or blending solution and move it around.  Repeat until you feel it is complete.

I backed my yupo paper with some double-sided adhesive before I began to make it easier to cut and attach to the card, and the sentiment is heat embossed with gold.

Hope to be back soon with some more alcohol ink creations.

Would like to enter my card in the following;

ATSM, CAS On Sunday, Christmas Card Challenges, Less Is More

Hi everyone, I hope you're having a good week!

The theme this week at Less Is More is "Emboss Resist Technique". This is such a fun technique and I wanted to have a go and was going to make something with white embossing on white card then after a bit more thought - hmmmm.  I'm keen to use more coloured card bases so decided to go with a grey card base and here it is.

I've heat embossed my moon and tree in white and inked with Cut N Dry foam in white and various shades of blue distress inks. Little dots of glue pen and white embossing powder for snowflakes.

We are having our annual children's Christmas event at church on Saturday afternoon, there will be lots of craft activities for the children to take part in, refreshments and the children will hear the story of the first Christmas. My craft activity is to decorate wooden star shapes with pens, glitter, sequins etc and I'm going to have a go at making one shortly. Then church on Sunday and After Church Fellowship in the evening with Christmas-ey snack goodies. Hope you have some good plans for the weekend!

Thanks for stopping by xx

Christmas tag

I've so enjoyed looking at all the beautiful Christmas tags in the 12 Tags of Christmas at Stamping With Loll and at last I've had some fun making my own.

I made my background using the watersplash technique with distress inks. The ornament was die-cut with double-sided sticky sheet to which I've added some little white leaves and glitter, the holly leaves were sponged with ink and covered with distress rock candy.

Uniko (Guest Designer), ATSM, The Flower Challenge, Fusion

Hi lovely stampers, I hope your week is going well. Busy making Christmas cards?

I am VERY excited and honoured to be guest designer at the Uniko Challenge Blog, where the theme is CHRISTMAS. Many thanks to Beverley for inviting me.

To make my card, I used the beautiful Uniko Poinsettia set which contains a lovely poinsettia stamp and loads of Christmas-ey sentiments. I stamped and heat embossed the poinsettia in gold on vellum three times and cut out various layers, placed them onto a die cut mat and added a gold heat embossed sentiment.

Why not join in the fun and link up your beautiful Christmas creations!
